Intern Life

Feb 7, 2019

This summer, I interned at Potoo Solutions, an e-commerce company specializing in protecting brands in the online marketplace. I worked alongside the Sales and Marketing team helping to create various marketing content for client pitches and sales meetings.

I first entered into my role as a Sales and Marketing intern with little knowledge about specific insights in the evolving e-commerce industry. However, by continuously revising sales decks, creating a competitive analysis and monitoring current news to keep our clients informed about changes within our field, I took in vast amounts of knowledge about brand protection in the e-commerce space. With e-commerce giants opening up marketplaces for vendors to freely sell products (such as Amazon, eBay, and Walmart) the third-party seller listing problem is inevitable for brands. Potoo reverses this problem, subsequently turning e-commerce into a growth strategy.

“Interning at a startup company has been an amazing experience, as I had the ability to work closely with and learn from executives offering great insight, as well as, challenging opportunities to further push my skill sets. I was able to hone in on my time management skills by working in such a fast-paced environment, with continuous projects and deadlines needing to be met. Since Potoo is a small company seeking growth every day, my voice as an intern mattered, which I am most thankful for. Both my communication skills and confidence have significantly tightened as I was able to add my personal input into various projects, such as creating impact decks sent directly to recognized brands.”

It’s not a secret that internships can be nerve-wracking when suddenly being thrown into a working environment, however, I believe it is one of the most important experiences to have as an undergraduate college student. Potoo, is a community of caring, hard-working individuals, who push you to reach outside of your comfort zone and become a strong candidate for job opportunities in the future. I believe there is something to be said about people who choose to work for a startup company because you can’t simply “do your job”, there must be passion behind every task you accomplish to reach a goal far beyond ordinary, in order to lead a company to exponential growth.

I cannot wait to take my skills acquired from working at Potoo to apply it to both my college classes and future career path. The relationships I have formed will last far beyond my time here. Thank you for an amazing summer, Potoo!
